HSEE (Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination) 2013



IIT Madras, a premier technical institution in the country, now offers a unique and innovative Five Year Integrated Masters Programme leading to M.A. degree in either of the three disciplines, viz. Development Studies, Economics and English Studies. With the launch of this programme, the IITM , is poised to cross a milestone in fulfilling its role in higher education in liberal arts and social sciences in the country.
Eligibility
1.Qualifying Examinations :

Candidates applying for HSEE-2012 should have either completed or are appearing in 2012 in any one of the following qualifying examinations (QE) :
The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central / State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc.
Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Exami-nation conducted by a recognized Board /  University.
Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
General Certificate Education (GCE) Exami-nation (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
Any Public School / Board / University Exami-nation in India or in any foreign country recog-nized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
One should note that courses which are preparatory in nature, without offering any degree are not considered equivalent to 10+2 system.
In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level. This is in addition to passing in the qualifying examination with aggregate marks relevant to the category of the candidate.
2.Percentage of Marks in QE:
The candidates belonging to the general category and OBC (CL/NCL) category must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the QE. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the QE. If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of joining. In case, such a certificate is not provided by the candidate, the decision of the HSEE Admission Committee regarding his/her eligibility shall be final.
3. Date of Birth:
A Candidate, whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1987, is eligible for HSEE-2012. However, in the case of SC, ST and PD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e., candidates belonging to these categories / subcategories born on or after October 01, 1982 are eligible. The date of birth as recorded in the High School (10th std. / 12th Std.) first Board / Pre-University Certificate will be taken as authentic. Candidates must produce a copy of this certificate along with the completed Application Form as a proof of their age and at the time of admission original certificate has to be produced failing which they will be disqualified.
4.Physical Fitness:
All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available to them along with offer of admission letter. They will be admitted only if they are physically fit for pursuing a course of study at the Institute.
 5.Important Notes:
(i)   Admission to a candidate will stand cancelled, if the proof of having passed the QE, as per the eligibility criteria specified in Section 11.2 of Information Bulletin, is not submitted to the Institute latest by September 30, 2012.
(ii)   Admissions are subject to verification of facts from the original certificates / documents of the candidates. If an applicant is found ineligible at a later date even after admission, his/her admission will be cancelled. The decision of the HSEE Admission Committee regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.
(iii) A candidate must satisfy all the aforesaid eligibility criteria in order to be elligible for appearing in HSEE-2012 / admission.

Exam Pattern
The HSEE 2013 examination is of three hours duration and has two parts.
Part I is a purely objective type multiple choice question paper for  2½ hours administered through computer.
It covers questions on English and Comprehension Skills, Analytical and Quantitative Ability, and General Knowledge covering the areas of Indian Economy (since Independence), Indian Society, Contemporary World Affairs (Post-World War II), and Environment & Ecology.  Syllabus for the examination is here as well as in the Information Brochure.
Part II is an essay writing for ½ hour to be written on answer paper which will be distributed to the candidates at the end of Part I.
Language of Question Paper: English.

JEE 2013 - The New Pattern

A Joint Entrance Examination for admission into IITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) like NITs/ IIITs and various other Self Financing Institutes is being administered from 2013.An expanded Joint Admission Board (JAB) will be set up for the conduct of JEE MAIN examination. 

Joint Entrance examination from 2013 for admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering in two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Only the top 1.5 lakh candidates (including all categories) based on performance in JEE Main will qualify to appear in the JEE Advanced examination.

Admission to any of the various branches of the Indian Institute of Technology will be based on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Advanced, subject to the condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile categories in their respective Boards/Qualifying Examinations. Admission to NITs will be based on 40 % weightage for performance in Class XII board marks (normalised) and the remaining 60 % weightage would be given to performance in JEE Main and a combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly.
The JEE-Main examination will also be conducted in regional languages of the state on request for state engineering colleges/ universities. However JEE-Advanced will be conducted in English/Hindi medium only.
Eligibility
In respect of those students who passed their Board exam for the first time in 2012, the eligibility criteria for joining any of the IITs or ISM Dhanbad will be 60% marks in their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PD candidates). For those candidates who appear in their Board exams for the first time in 2013, the eligibility criteria will remain ‘top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in their Boards, category-wise. This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

For those students who passed their 12th Board exams in 2012 but are re-appearing in the 2013 Board exams with a view to improve their performance, 60% rule will apply if they use their 2012 Board exam results and ‘top 20 percentile’ rule will apply if they use their 2013 Board exam results. This too will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

Date of Exam
The JEE (Main) will be held during the month of April, 2013 (both offline and online). 
The JEE (Advanced) will be held on June 2, 2013 (only offline). 
Only 1,50,000 of the top rankers in JEE(Main), which includes students from all categories( GE,OBC(NCL), SC and ST ) will be eligible to appear in JEE(Advanced). The JEE (Advanced)-2013 will have two objective type papers. Each paper will consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Duration of each paper will be 3-hours. Question papers will be in both English and Hindi.
The last date to register for JEE (Advanced) - 2013 (along with the required information and applicable fee) is 13th May, 2013.

INDIAN ARMY - B Sc NURSING/GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY (GNM) COURSE 2013


Applications are invited from FEMALE candidates for admission to 4 years B Sc  Nursing course commencing in Aug 2013 at Colleges of Nursing and 3½ years Diploma  in General Nursing & Midwifery course commencing in Sep 2013 at Schools of Nursing of Armed Forces Hospitals.
Selected candidates shall execute an agreement/Bond to  serve in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) for 5 years. On successful completion of  Nursing Training (4/3½ yrs), the candidates will be granted commission in the Military Nursing Service, under the terms and conditions laid down for grant of such commission.
Eligibility Conditions
(a) Female candidates who are unmarried / divorcee / legally separated or widow without encumbrances.
(b) Nationality – Indian
(c) Date of Birth - Between 01 Aug 88 and 31 Jul 96 (Both days inclusive).
(d) Educational Qualification – Should have passed the complete senior secondary (10+2)/equivalent examination as a regular student in the first attempt from a recognized Board /University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (as elective subjects and not optional) with minimum 50% aggregate  marks.  Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing for final year of the qualifying examination
during the current academic session may also apply. The candidates finally  selected for the course will have to submit proof of passing the qualifying exam with requisite subjects and marks before joining the course.  Those who have passed such examinations as private students or with compartment in any subject are
not eligible.
(e) Physical standards – Medical fitness will be determined as per Military Standards  by Military Authorities.  X-Ray examination of Chest and USG (of abdomen & pelvis) will be done.


Selection:  Eligible applicants will be called for an objective type written test of 90 minutes duration including General English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and General Intelligence, likely to be held in Jan 2013. Call letters for the test will be dispatched by last week of Dec 2012. The parts of question paper pertaining to Biology, Physics, Chemistry and General Intelligence will be bilingual. Candidates as per merit on the
basis of written test will be called for interview during Apr 2013. Call letters for interview will be dispatched by second week of Mar 2013. Final selection will be based on combined merit of written test and interview, subject to medical fitness.  4. Medical Examination: After the interview the recommended candidates will appear  for medical examination before a Special Medical Board (SMB). Candidates declared FIT/UNFIT will be informed by the President of the Medical Board including the procedure of requesting for APPEAL/REVIEW MEDICAL BOARD.
5. Written Examination Centres:  Bangalore, Chandimandir, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Danapur, Guwahati, Jabalpur, Jammu, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Secunderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Ezhimala (Cannanore) and Wellington.
Note: If the number of candidates is inadequate/more than the capacity of a centre, the candidates opting for that centre will be allotted the centre of their second/third choice or any one of the above-mentioned centres as per the administrative feasibility.
6. How to apply: 
(a) Application to be typed in Block letter on A4 size paper as per the format given in this advertisement with passport size photo duly pasted in the space provided and attested. (b) Applications received on newspaper cutting or its photocopy will not be accepted.
7. The list of enclosures to be attached with the application is as under:
   (a) Attested true copy of Matric/equivalent certificate

(b) Attested true copy of complete Mark Sheet of Senior Secondary (10+2)/equiv exam. In case, subject codes and maximum marks are given  on rear side, copy of BOTH SIDES is essential.  Candidates appearing in qualifying examination (10+2)/equiv should enclose the attested copy of mark sheet of 10+1.
  (c) Attested true copy of Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST candidates only.
  (d) Gap Certificate, in case the time gap between 10th & 12th class is more than two
years, from concerned School/College that candidate passed Sr secondary Exam in the First Attempt as a regular student.
  (e) Three copies of Admit Card  on A4 size paper with passport size photo (without attestation), duly pasted in the space provided. The application is liable to be rejected if the photographs are not pasted/loosely affixed and gets detached while in transit/handling.
   (f) Four self addressed envelopes (good quality) of size 28 cms x 12 cms with Postal stamps of ` 7/- (` seven only) be affixed on each envelope.
   (g) In case of widows/divorcees, an affidavit stating that you are issueless.
   (h) In case of the divorcee, legal documents and an affidavit stating that the matter is not under consideration with the higher court.
   (j) No Objection certificate from the present employer, if employed. The documents should be neatly tagged along with the application. Identical photos taken recently should figure on applications and admit cards (should be pasted and not stapled).
Office of DGMS-4B will not be held responsible for loss of any documents while handling at any stage.  Note: - The selection of the candidate for B Sc (Nsg)/ GNM course will however be subject to producing of the original mark sheets/certificate of the qualifying examination (10+2) or equivalent before final selection and meeting all other eligibility criteria.

8. Last Date:  Application should reach  Integrated Headquarters of MoD (Army), Director General of Medical Services (Army)/DGMS-4B, AG’s Branch, Room No 45, ‘L’ Block Hutments, New Delhi- 110 001 by 08 Oct 2012. Applications received after the date will neither be opened nor entertained.
9.  The aforesaid conditions are subject to modification without notice, if deemed necessary.
10. No correspondence will be entertained from the  candidates whose applications have been rejected.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for MBBS and BDS Courses


Medical Council of India with the approval of the Central Government amended the regulations on Graduate Medical Education 1997 and made provision for a Single Eligibility cum Entrance Examination, namely, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS Course in each academic year and admission to BDS Course in each academic year shall be through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India have notified that the Central Board of Secondary Education shall be the organization to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses.

Accordingly, the Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in the academic session 2013-14 on Sunday, the 05th May, 2013.

Admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in the institutions approved by the Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India are subject to merit position of candidates in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (Under-Graduate), 2013.
NEET 2013 Scores Common merit will be used for admissions to a total of 355 medical colleges in the country. The CBSE will be conducting the NEET in English, Hindi and those regional languages in which the tests were held earlier.

National Institute of Design - Admission to Graduate Diploma Programme in Design

National Institute of Design is internationally acclaimed as one of the finest educational and research institutions for Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design. For Reserved Category:

The application form may be downloaded from our website admissions.nid .edu. The completed application forms may be posted to NID/handed over physically with supporting documents and Demand Draft of Rs. 750/- drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad. The applicant should also send in an attested copy of the relevant reserved category certificate from competent authority.
Attested copies of Caste/Category Certificates required from Reserved Category Candidates: Reserved category candidates must attach relevant certificates of Caste/ Category as per the Government of India rules/format, otherwise the application form will be rejected.
OBC (Other Backward Class) candidates are required to submit non-creamy layer certificate from Collectorate. PH (Physically Handicapped) candidates are required to submit certificate from the Chief Medical Officer (minimum 40% disability).

Overseas Candidates

Overseas candidates applying for admission into Graduate Diploma Programme in Design/ Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Design should send their application along with other applicants in India by November 2, 2012. Such students may attend admission test and interview at Ahmedabad.15 percent seats in Graduate Diploma Programme in Design/ Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design are reserved for applicants from foreign countries/ SAARC region/ NRIs on supernumerary basis.They should fill in the prescribed application form and send the same with their portfolio to Admissions Office, NID on or before November 2, 2012.
